TITANIUM

The titanium is a chemical element, of symbol You and atomic number 22. Silver treats itself about a metal of transition of gray color. It has high resistance to the corrosion and great mechanical resistance. It possesses mechanical properties similar to the steel, so much cigar as in the alloys that it forms. The titanium was declared strategic material on the part of The United States for many years and it can form alloys with other elements, such as iron, aluminium, vanadium, molybdenum.
The titanium (called this way by the Titans, children of Uranus and Gea in the Greek mythology) was discovered in England by William Gregor, in 1791, when a metal of color was studying grey - silver that he had found. Little later, in 1795, the German chemist Martin Kalprotz, discoverer also of the uranium, gave the name of titanium. The titanium is present in the meteorites and in the Sun.
