PHOSPHORUS

The phosphorus is a chemical element of atomic number 15 and symbol P. Does name come from the Greek φώς ("Light") and φόρος ("Carrier"). The origin of the name of this element owes to that this one issues a light in the darkness because it burns on having combined slowly with the oxygen of the air (phosphorescence).
The phosphorus, former name the planet Venus, was discovered by the German alchemist Hennig Brand in 1669 in Hamburg on having revealed a mixture of urine and sand while it was looking for the stone filosofal; on having evaporated the urea it obtained a white material that was shining in the darkness and was burning as a brilliant (phosphorescent) flame.
