TECNECIUM

The tecnecio is the most light of the chemical elements that do not possess stable isotopes and the first synthetic element that one finds in the periodic table. His atomic number is 43 and his symbol is Tc. The chemical properties of this crystalline metal of transition of gray silver color are intermediate to those of the renio and those of the manganese.
Many investigators of the epoch were eager to be the first ones in discovering and putting name to the element 43. Dimitri Mendeleev predicted that this element 43 had to be chemically similar to the manganese. His discovery was finally a confirmee in an experiment in 1937 carried out in the University of Palermo (Sicily), for Carlo Perrier and Emilio Segrè.
This element comes of technetos (artificial), because it was one of first described.
