CERIUM

The cerium is a chemical element of symbol Ce and is one of 14 chemical elements that follow the lantano in the periodic table, named by it lantánidos. It is malleable, of gray color metal-worker similar to the iron, becomes dun reddish on having exposed it to the air and is a very scanty element in the terrestrial bark, where it turns out to be dispersed in diverse minerals, as the cerita and monacita.
It was discovered in 1803 by Martin Heinrich Klaproth y Jöns Jacob Berzelius and independently by Wilhelm von Hisinger. It took his Ceres's name, the small planet that one had found two years before. It is the most abundant of the metals of the rare lands and is in the minerals, included Allanita, monacita and Cerita. There are big deposits found in the India, Brazil and the USA.
