The silver is a chemical element of atomic placed number 47 in the group 1 of the periodic table of the elements. His symbol is Ag (it comes from the Latin: argentum, from the Indus - European root arg - for "whites" o "brilliant"). It is a white, brilliant, soft, ductile, malleable metal of transition.
He is in the nature forming a part of different minerals (generally in the shape of sulphur) or as free silver. The silver is one of seven metals known from the antiquity. The silver, as the rest of the metals, served for the production of weapon of war and then it used in the manufacture of utensils and ornaments wherefrom it spread to the trade on the first coins of silver having coined and managing to constitute the base of the monetary system of numerous countries.
