Palladium is a chemical element with atomic number 46 located in group 10 of the periodic table of elements. Its symbol is Pd. It is a transition metal of the platinum group, which is at the lower density melting point. It is soft, ductile, malleable and scarce, and is a silvery white metal that is oxidized by the air.The metal is used principally in the communications field, which is used to coat electrical contacts in automatic control devices.
