LANTANUM

The lantano is a chemical element of the periodic table which symbol is It and his atomic number is 57.
It was discovered by the Swedish chemist Carl Gustaf Mosander in the year 1839. Does lanthaneîn owe his name to the Greek verb lanthaneîn (λανθανεῖν) that it means "hidden", since the metal was "hidden" in a mineral of cerium. Mosander discovered the element lantano in the nitrate of impure cerium. It was extracted from the land (insoluble oxide in water) lantana (oxide of lantano), treating her with a strong acid.
